Leah Guerrero - Founder of Brujita Skincare

Leah Guerrero is up to some seriously witchy business. Since founding Brujita Skincare in 2017, Leah has watched her business sky rocket. Pulling inspiration from Mexico’s mercados (where Leah spent her time while ideating Brujita) and pop culture mixed with hand selected, all-natural and sustainable ingredients, Leah has created a company that is truly irresistible. Her band of loyal fans, the “Brujita Cult” will be the first to tell you that those elements mixed with Leah’s infectious passion and personality are why they keep coming back for more, small-batch after small-batch. Not to mention all of the tarot goodness!

Brujita Skincare is an LA based, Latina owned and operated brand that was born during one of Leah Guerrero’s many month-long visits to Mexico City. With over ten years of experience as an esthetician in holistic skincare, Leah created Brujita Skincare in 2017 after immersing herself in the mercados of Mexico City. It’s from these same inspirational mercados that Leah hand picks key ingredients used in her products. Whether sourced from Mexico City or the United States, all ingredients chosen are sustainable, raw, organic, and unrefined. Since its introduction to local LA makers markets in 2017, Brujita Skincare has seen rapid growth both professionally and creatively. All photos, videos, and branding are done in house by the same hands that create the holistic products. Through its use of sustainable ingredients and thoughtful marketing, Brujita Skincare aims to be a timeless brand accessible to all communities.

Favorite motto or quote that keeps you inspired?

Book(s) that inspire you/your company?

We've been gearing up for our REDRUM COLLECTION that releases in October. I’ve been reading different versions of Hansel and Gretel. Also watching different film variations like Tim Burton and Oz Perkins.

Other content, music, anything that is inspiring you right now?

Tarot has become super inspiring and insightful for Brujita. From navigating customer service, being aware of production and burn out. Its been helping us a lot!

In your personal life, what is one daily practice or habit you have to keep you centered and grounded?

My skincare routine and post shower self care. I never skip out on a session to love myself through skincare and body-care. I love taking my time and covering each inch of my body in nourishing creams and lotions. This really sets my day off in a good way and I smell BOMB!

Who or what was the biggest motivator for you when you started your business?

Brujita came to me in the peak of my saturn return. I had to leave alot behind to make way for this new life that I have now. D.F. (Mexico City) sparked a new love for searching and sourcing skin powders. A mercado vendor called me "Brujita" as I explained why I was taking these powders back to my facial clients. Friends were already calling me Brujita but it really left a mark when a person outside of knowing me personally said it. I felt a huge rush of acceptance and it changed my life completely to what it is today. My passion for skincare and helping others achieve healthy results is what keeps Brujita growing. The expansion keeps me grounded, and the most responsible I’ve ever been in my life LOL.

How do you hope that your company can create a better world?

Brujita Skincare carries a certain compassion that not many beauty businesses have. We actually care. I answer DMs and messages personally. Brujita will always be this way. Its personal and its right in your face! The loyalty and trust that the Brujita Cult has is like no other! I believe we are creating a better world just by present and actually caring about who supports us.

What has been the biggest highlight running your own company?

Coming into the studio everyday and producing magical products that heal peoples skin! Also knowing that every product is an original formulation that people cannot live without.
